OUR HISTORY
It began in 1901.
Southern Bank was founded in 1901 as the Bank of Mount Olive with a handful of local investors and $10,000 in cash. In our early days, the focus was on agriculture and local businesses. Today, our product offerings are as diverse as the markets we serve. Small and mid-sized businesses depend on us for complover-imete financial services. Our mortgage department provides a Home Team Advantage for homeowners in our communities. Today, we are in tiny towns and thriving cities in eastern North Carolina and southeastern Virginia.
OUR CULTURE
Southern Bank is truly unique, and our vision is quite simple: to be the bank of preference by delivering a distinctive banking experience and unsurpassed dedication to our customers and communities.
Inspired by this common purpose, we strive every day to make things better for our customers, teammates, and communities. Our core values shine through in everything we do:
- Simplicity
- Passion
- Integrity
- Respect
- Trust
